Are You a Candidate for Invisalign Treatment

Read below to see if you may be a candidate for Invisalign treatment

Invisalign provides the opportunity for patients to straighten out minimally rotated or misaligned teeth without bands, brackets, or wires. According to the company, Invisalign is “A virtually invisible and hygienic treatment, the Invisalign System uses an innovative approach to effectively straighten your teeth. Invisalign treatment uses our unique SMARTForce Technology to create a series of custom-made removable aligners for you and only you. All you have to do is to wear these aligners, made of a virtually invisible plastic, over your teeth to gradually move them to the ideal position.”

However, Invisalign is typically utilized with those that have minimally rotated teeth in order to achieve ideal straightening. If your teeth need more extensive movement to achieve the straightening desired, our dentists will provide you with an appropriate referral to some of our recommended orthodontists in San Diego County. A consultation will be needed to assess the difficulty of the case as well as the cost of treatment.

What is the cost of Invisalign®?
Invisalign® prices are dependent on the extensively of the case. Simple cases with minimal rotations will be completed much sooner then extensive cases. Typically the prices are similar to the prices of the traditional braces.  According to the Invisalign® company, “ We know cost is a big question for anyone considering orthodontic work. In most cases, Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of traditional braces. However, as with other medical treatments, only your Invisalign-trained doctor can determine the cost, based on your specific needs. Other factors may include your treatment goals, the difficulty of your case, how long you are in treatment, where you live, and additional factors determined by your dentist or orthodontist. Also, check your dental insurance plan—Invisalign treatment is covered by many dental insurance policies. And many doctors can offer flexible and affordable monthly payment plans as well.” ( http://www.invisalign.com/frequently-asked-questions#sm.001uykrwq18pqddhv8q18dg05543m)

Is Invisalign® completely clear?
Each retainer is designed with a clear plastic material. Typically, these retainers are undetectable to the standard eye. However, some may notice the plastic interface covering the front side of your teeth. In addition, some of the clear buttons may be detectable to other people.

How do the teeth move?
Each Invisalign® tray puts a force on the tooth to align them in a certain manner. After each tray is replaced more extensive movement can be noticed until the teeth are aligned in the best manner possible. The slow movement of teeth allows for a more comfortable and safe aligning technique.
